WHAT TO DO?

If you find an injured or orphaned bird or animal, the best solution is to contact a wildlife carer, vet or wildlife sanctuary than to care for it yourself. Animals are often in shock after an accident, and need specialist care, requiring food, medicine and equipment specifically designed for them. The first 24 hours are crucial. Animals sometimes die when people, with the best of intentions, have given the wrong food, or not taken the appropriate first aid measures.

RESCUED!

NANA is proud to have been part of an initiative to create a book about wildlife care, as written by carers from around Australia and New Zealand.  We are selling this book "Rescued!" to raise funds to support the work being done by our volunteers.  You can help us by buying a copy, and then sit down and read some of the funny, moving and inspirational stories about our work. more.....

HELP!

With the coming of spring, and the recent storms, our volunteers are all flat out rescuing and raising orphaned birds and mammals. We are just about run off our feet. If you can live on the NSW South Coast and can help by donating  your time, money or resources - we would really love to hear from you. Please contact us and let us know how you can help.

WILDLIFE FRIENDLY FENCING

Every year, thousands of native animals die needlessly, caught on barbed wire or entangled in netting and fencing that is inappropriate to the wildlife in the area. While much of the barbed wire is erected in situations where it is not even needed, experience has found that wildlife entanglements tend to occur in very specific circumstances - such as when barbed wire is next to source of food or water. The Native Animal Network Association proudly supports the Wildlife Friendly Fencing Project. To learn more, visit their website at www.wildlifefriendlyfencing.com.

NSW WILDLIFE COUNCIL

The Native Animal Network Association is proud to be a foundation member of the NSW Wildlife Council. The new Council is looking to maximise the efforts of wildlife groups across NSW, with the stated goal of achieving better outcomes for wildlife. If you would like to know more about the wildlife council, you can see their website at www.nwc.org.au. You can download a copy of the NWC newsletter 'Wildlife Watch' from HERE.

FOR NANA VOLUNTEERS

NANA general meetings are now held at the Nowra Library Meeting Room, Berry Street Nowra, on the  second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. At each meeting we have a guest speaker and/or training for members, so it is well worth the effort. At the December meeting our guest speaker will be the WIRES Emergency Response Coordinator, talking to us about their plans and experience.

There is new information about NEW training courses available by clicking HERE.

New! We are moving to the use of species coordinators in NANA (except the South Coast Branch at this stage), so members will need to learn the new arrangements - please click here to learn more!

Please note you can download a copy of our constitution, the latest newsletter and find links to useful online resources by clicking HERE.
