RESCUED!

NANA has contributed two articles to this wonderful book, which is a compilation of wildlife stories from carers and vets from across Australia and New Zealand. This book includes 43 true wildlife stories , and is written by the carers and vets themselves. Every story is illustrated and there are pages of beautiful colour photographs of some of the wildlife that has been given a second change through the efforts of wildlife carers.

The book is now for sale for just $19.95, and 100% of the profits go to wildlife rescue groups such as NANA.  But apart from being a great way to help rescue wildlife, there are some wonderful stories. Rescues from Southern Victoria to the Kimberly area of Western Australia, ranging from Kangaroos, Koalas and Bats in Australia through to the little blue penguins and the amazing Kiwi in New Zealand.

"Rescued! enthralls readers with true stories of sick, injured and orphaned Australian native animals and the unsung heroes who are prepared to step in to help them in their time of need.  These stories combine to not only demonstrate the magnificence of Australia’s wildlife but they carry a powerful  message too – that every individual animal is unique and precious and that saving one animal is the stepping stone to saving an entire species.  I encourage every Australian to read this book".

Gail Gipp, Manager – Australian Wildlife Hospital

There is a real mix of stories, including the Albatross that hitched a ride back to shore on an Australian warship, which was rescued and taken 19 Kilometers out to sea to be released.  There is the funny story from a group in Queensland called "How not to release a ringtail possum" and an even funnier one from the same author "The wild side of releasing native animals" in which just about everything that can go wrong, does - and at the worst possible time!

There's also the amazing story of an injured pelican that found its own way to a wildlife hospital, and the story of one of Australia's rarest animals, the white Koala.

This beautiful book is rich with wisdom, inspiration, and sound advice. It is education with a smile and an invitation to open your heart to the unique animals all around us. It is a tribute to those brave and compassionate people all over this country who give their time, money and love so selflessly to help those creatures whose suffering would otherwise go unnoticed and whose cause would go unchampioned. Their stories are pure joy."

This is so much more than a book of short stories. It gives the reader a real insight into the problems faced by wildlife, and the lives of those people who dedicate themselves to the rescue and rehabilitation of wildlife.

You can purchase your own copy for just $19.95 from NANA.
