This baby sugar glider was saved after it's mother was caught on a
barbed-wire fence. The mother, and another baby died. This one was raised
with a small group of a similar age. This baby was about 25 grams.
In late 2001, this glider was released in a family group of four others of
the same age. |
This tiny creature is one of the lucky ones. A pet cat presented this Feathertail Glider to its owner, who handed it over to NANA. Luckily, the cat had done minimal damage, and the Glider made a full recovery, and was released near its own home soon afterwards. Most of the smaller native animals are not so lucky. The vast majority are killed outright, or die soon after they are caught by domesticated or feral cats. |
